In my opinion one of the greatest, most influential economists in the modern era was Milton Friedman. On July 31, Milton would have been 106.
In a tribute to the wit and wisdom of Mr. Friedman, please read Mark Perry’s blog post from July 29: Happy 106th birthday on July 31, Milton Friedman!
Also, in a July 29 post, Mark Perry provides a summary of a column by Jeff Jacoby in the Boston Globe. Here is the link to Jeff’s article on trade: Nations don’t trade with each other, and trade is not a war.
Sometimes returning to a high level view helps us to maintain perspective and keep us from losing our minds over the incessant bombardment of rhetoric about tariffs and trade.
Until next time, cheers!
