Addressing Stock Market Volatility

| December 04, 2018

Considering the current volatility in the stock markets and the length of the recovery from the market bottom in March 2009, I thought it would be a propitious time to take a 50,000’ view of the market landscape.

To assist us in this endeavor, I would like to highlight several videos on our website.   First, please click on the following link: Events on Wall Street and view the video.  The message here is clear - this 10-year bull market will end someday but no one really knows when it will end or what will cause it to end.

The stock market is what is referred to as a “leading indicator” and reflects the health of our economy and the business environment.  What causes the economy to go through boom and bust business cycles?  We have a video that addresses that also: The Business Cycle.

So, where is the market headed?  Link: Where Is The Market Headed?  Obviously no one knows.  However, as I discussed here on my blog two weeks ago, we are now in the seasonally strong 6 months of the year.

Having said that, this bull market run is aging, so we need to remain vigilant.  When it does end, it could be dramatic and unnerving.  Therefore, it behooves us to employ a strategy and process that is designed to minimize the damage to a portfolio that could short-circuit retirement objectives.

As always, if there are any questions please do not hesitate to call.   And please feel free to share this with friends.

Until next time, cheers!

Jim
